They say when the student is ready, the teacher shows up. I had the chance to experience this in real life last week and am inspired to share this little story today. When the teacher showed up, she spoke words of wisdom with the grace of being a lifelong observer herself. She shared how our modern education system is linear in nature and therefore limited in more ways than one.

While learning dance is non linear growth, like that of a tree. We go back and forth, thinking and questioning, understanding and immersing and allow growth to happen in all directions. We constantly look around and adjust ourselves to the changing environment, making change an easy phenomenon for us. We stay grounded and deeply connected with our roots. As we grow stronger, our roots keep growing too, and they hold us in our space. The older we get, the deeper our learnings become, just like a tree that branches out more and more, gets covered with many leaves and fruits and provides shelter to others; so do we as the torch bearers of invaluable knowledge sharing our learnings with an open heart.
